Mendocino Stories was born when I visited my dear friend Bonnie Sanger who was dying. Bonnie said there was one thing she'd like to do before she died – she wanted to prepare her book, composed of notes on scraps of paper, for publication. I said I would be honored to make that happen.
I talked with James Maxwell, my webmaster, and we planned a website inspired by Bonnie’s book, Conversations with Grandmother Redwood. Max said, "Let's do it!"

The Mendocino Stories homepage reflects Bonnie's major influence. It states, "Mendocino is a magical area of rare beauty. A gathering place, she attracts kindred spirits – nature lovers, poets, artists, musicians, writers and lefties abound." Here is a website devoted to the creative energies of our area. Here, all types of artists, and patrons of local artists are invited to subscribe to a page and join the online community. accepts work from the heart of the writer, poet, painter, photographer or musician, amateur or professional – eloquent, empowering, sincere, deeply felt and personal – not hurtful or negative, condoning no violence, ill will, power trips or politics.
